DON’T SAY WE DIDN’T WARN YOU: PROGRAMMABLE DIGITAL

Every now and then one of our regular "story spotters" finds a story we missed or that for whatever reason we did not blog about when it first appeared. That's the case with this story, but it's also a case of "don't say we didn't warn you."

"Warn us about what?" some might ask.

Cows cause 30% of methane gas emissions, Israeli team plans to reduce it

NRS Impact, Ben-Gurion University and the Volcani Center recently established a joint effort to minimize global warming through microbiome technology that will reduce methane emissions – of cows.

“We are in a state of emergency,” said Sam Salman, chairman and CEO of Impact NRS. “The atmosphere is in danger, as are both our health and animal welfare. It’s like a candle burning on both sides.”

Today, around 30% of methane emissions are due to gas emissions from around 1.5 billion cows that are being used to produce milk and meat. The sustenance is necessary, Salman said, but the enormous damage being done to the atmosphere is not.

Storm Barra to impact Ireland and UK with strong winds, heavy rain and snow

A deep low-pressure area moving in from the Atlantic Ocean this week has been named Storm Barra by Met Éireann on Sunday, December 5, 2021, due to the level of impacts expected for the Republic of Ireland. After impacting Ireland, Barra will bring strong winds and rain to the United Kingdom, with the rain turning to snow across northern England and Scotland. Barra is the second named storm of the 2021/22 season, which runs from September 2021 through the end of August 2022.

As the system moves in from the west, the strongest winds and impacts are expected to affect the Republic of Ireland, according to the UK Met Office.1

Barra is expected to affect Ireland on Tuesday, December 7, and for a time on Wednesday, December 8. Multiple hazards will be associated with this system, Met Éireann said.2

Danske Bank Slaps 'ESG' Label On 95% Of Its Funds As Top Banker Speaks Out Against "Greenwashing"

One of the most disturbing developments on Wall Street in recent years is how the "green cult" has managed to infiltrate the culture, forcing firms to drum up ESG-branded offerings or risk losing clients to better-prepared rivals.

But like any other fad, the shift to ESG, and the pressure investors are putting on "dirty" oil and gas companies (not to mention coal) has had side effects that are more serious, and others that are more or less benign.

In the "serious blowback" camp is the fact that the backlash against traditional energy companies and the new orientation in Washington has helped drive inflationary pressures to their highest level in 3 decades (more on that here) by weighing on US supplies of crude oil.

The truth is there simply aren't enough truly "green" assets to go around, which is why Wall Street is scrambling to label any old company "green" based sometimes on little more than promises.

Europe’s imminent winter energy crisis could have serious political consequences

With temperatures falling and gas prices rising, much of Europe is drifting into a perfect storm. Supply shortages, inflation, green policies and ideological opposition to Russia are creating an energy crisis.
As a result, power outages, stunted economic recovery and political fallout could have ramifications across the continent. In the longer term, the failure of EU policymakers will undermine energy security, make its industries less competitive, and have a negative impact on Europe’s cohesion and role in the world.

Coming frost

Efforts by the US and EU to borrow and spend their way to recovery are failing. Growing debt and money printing are fueling inflation with a predictable impact on energy prices. America’s recent and drastic inflation of the money supply was unnecessarily reckless, given the country was already recovering from Covid-19 lockdowns.

Finnish Electricity Prices Jump 5x Amid Unseasonably Cold Weather And Worsening Energy Crisis

Finland has succumbed to the energy crisis as households and businesses early this week paid a mind-numbing €422 per MWh (including taxes), or about five times higher than a year ago, according to data from the Nord Pool electricity exchange.

The Northern European nation bordering Sweden, Norway, and Russia is energy-dependent, meaning it must import high volumes of fossil fuels, such as petroleum and natural gas. Domestic sources of power production include thermal, nuclear, and hydropower plants.

Energy experts told RT News that soaring natural gas prices in Central Europe attributed to skyrocketing power prices. Experts warned of very little relief for Finnish households and businesses who may experience heightened electricity costs until next summer.

Let Them Eat Volts!

Once upon a time – it wasn’t all that long ago – the Democrat Party was at least nominally a populist party, ostensibly opposed to politics of the elites, which the GOP was said to represent. Is there a better measure of how these roles have reversed than the pushing of electric cars by Democratic elitists such as the Biden Thing’s secretary of transportation, Pete Buttigieg?

He glibly advises average Americans who are having a time paying $3.40 for a gallon of gas that cost them $2.20 just before he and the Biden Thing took over the apparatus of government from a Republican to deal with it by getting rid of their gas-burning car in favor of an electric car.

“They will never have to worry about gas prices again,” he says.

The problem there, of course, is that electric cars cost even more than it costs to fuel a not-electric car at $3.40 per gallon.

Or even $5.

Brutal cold wave hits Europe with lowest temperatures in 40 years – Energy prices soar to new record

Let’s talk about global warming… Or better said GLOBAL COOLING! A brutal cold wave is currently sweeping across Europe, bringing tons of SNOW, powerful WINDS triggering widespread POWER OUTAGES and devastating several countries in Europe and Scandinavia with lows that haven’t been seen since 1980 in Sweden.

Sweden has had the lowest temperature in November since 1980 with a polar wave sweeping Western Europe. Same in Ivalo, Finnish Lapland, where thermometer were at -22ºC as well as in Norway.

Look: It’s Snowing In Ann Arbor For Michigan, Ohio State Game

As if today’s marquee matchup between No. 2 Ohio State and No. 6 Michigan needed anymore hype — it’s now snowing in Ann Arbor.

Meeting on the field of The Big House this afternoon, the bitter Big Ten rivals will face off in what could end up being an iconic “snow game” matchup between the two historic programs.

Yesterday, the weather forecast had the kickoff temperature at 33 degrees Fahrenheit with a 15 percent chance of snow showers. Hours before kickoff, those chances increased to 50 percent and the temperature dropped to a frigid 30 degrees.

Now with just minutes before the game gets underway, the snow is coming down at a decent rate in Ann Arbor.

Upcoming Grand Solar Minimum Could Wipe Out Global Warming for Decades

Unknown to most people except those with an interest in solar science, the sun is about to shut down. Well, not completely – we’ll still have plenty of sunlight and heat, but the small dark blotches on the sun’s surface called sunspots, visible in the figure below, are on the verge of disappearing. According to some climate scientists, this heralds a prolonged cold stretch of maybe 35 years starting in 2020, despite global warming.

How could that happen? Because sunspots, which are caused by magnetic turbulence in the sun’s interior, signal subtle changes in solar output or activity – changes that can have a significant effect on the earth’s climate. Together with the sun’s heat and light, the monthly or yearly number of sunspots goes up and down during the approximately 11-year solar cycle. For several decades now, the maximum number of sunspots seen in a cycle has been declining.

CLIMATE CHANGE FROM A GEOLOGISTS POINT OF VIEW

Nov 23 08:51

The snows of November came early

I was a guest on a radio show whose host posed that question. The station was located where winters are different from here in the frozen foods section of the country. I won’t say kinder or gentler, but the temperatures are higher and snow is lacking.

My lame answer was, “When last winter’s snow has finally melted.” This assured me there would be no zombies pursuing me. They eat brains.

It’d been a glorious fall on the home front. It hadn’t been all gentle sunshine and Rice Krispies bars—it was more of a garbage casserole, but what did I expect? Wanting perfection in weather is a pipe dream.

Cold Snap Sweeps Across China As Fears Of Energy Crisis Reemerge

A massive cold blast is sweeping across most parts of China, unleashing snow, mixed precipitation, and dangerous wind. China's energy crisis eased last month but could soon be ignited again by wicked winter weather.

According to the website weather.com.cn, which the China Meteorological Administration runs, more than 100 weather alerts are issued for the country as record-breaking cold temperatures spread further and further south.

The latest forecast shows a cold air mass has descended on the county.

Watch: Pelosi Admits Massive Climate Change Spending Is "A Religious Thing"

Critics of climate alarmism often level the charge that activists are engaging in a kind of religious fervour, and now Nancy Pelosi has provided more ammunition on this very front by calling the Democrats’ massive spending on ‘green’ policies “a religious thing.”

Describing the House passage of the massive ‘Build Back’ spending bill this past weekend, of which $550 billion is earmarked for combating climate change, Pelosi said “For me, it’s a religious thing.”

She explained, “I believe this is God’s creation and we have a moral obligation to be good stewards.”

Pelosi continued, “But if you don’t share that view, you must share the view that we have an obligation to future generations. So we’re very excited about what is in there and it is paid for.”

Swiss Bank Says You Must Give Up Red Meat, Beer, Coffee, Milk, Video Games, Dishwashers, to Be Carbon Neutral

The Swiss investment bank Credit Suisse has called on people to give up red meat, beer, coffee, video games, and vastly reduce the use of showers and dishwashers, in order to be carbon neutral.

In a report that emerged during the COP26 climate conference in Glasgow, Credit Suisse, the famed Swiss investment bank, claimed that the “ultimate reason for [carbon dioxide] emissions” is the consumer. “One could argue that at the end of the day it is our daily lifestyle that drives energy consumption and by implication emission levels from other sources,” the report reads.

“Whether it is the car we drive, the products that we buy, or the house that we heat, all emissions globally ultimately are generated by manufacturers or service providers in order to accommodate consumer behaviour and spending patterns.”

Using the Climate Crisis: Whitney Webb Discusses Global Elites’ Takeover of Nature

As world leaders, celebrities, business moguls and activists alike descended on Scotland for the COP26 climate summit, behind the scenes powerful financial groups were and are attempting to rewrite the rules of international trade and to privatize nature under the guise of sustainability.

While there has been a great deal of finger pointing, the enormous and tangible changes necessary to steer the planet away from devastation are yet to appear. The world is still on course to warm 2.4°C above pre-industrial levels by the end of the century, according to a report from Climate Action Tracker. Anything above 2°C is generally considered to be catastrophic and could lead to societal collapse across the globe.

While high politics has understandably made the headlines, a cartel of international bankers is attempting to use the crisis to rewrite international capitalism for their own benefit.

MEDIA DECLARES ‘CLIMATE LOCKDOWNS’ A “CONSPIRACY THEORY” AS INDIA PREPARES TO IMPOSE CLIMATE LOCKDOWN

While the media declares the notion of ‘climate lockdowns’ to be a fake news “conspiracy theory,” India is preparing to impose a climate lockdown to reduce pollution.

Yes, really.

NPR reports the details of the lockdown under the headline ‘New Delhi’s air pollution is so bad, officials are calling for a citywide lockdown’.

“India’s Supreme Court is calling for a lockdown in the capital, New Delhi. It’s because of a health emergency, but it’s not about COVID-19. It’s about air pollution,” states the piece.

Authorities are set to ban all nonessential travel on roads in the national capital region while ordering tens of millions of people to work from home.

Construction sites are also closing along with schools, many of which only recently opened after the COVID-19 lockdown.

China: North-eastern city sees highest snowfall in 116 years

Heavy blizzards in some parts of north-eastern China have brought record snowfall, raising concerns about keeping homes warm in an area hit by power outages earlier this year.

In the capital city of Shenyang, in Liaoning province, average snowfall reached 51cm (20 inches).

This is the highest recorded snowfall since 1905, said state outlet Xinhua.

In neighbouring inner Mongolia, one person died and more than 5,600 were affected after a heavy snowstorm.

Meteorological researchers in the Mongolian city of Tongliao told state outlet the Global Times that the snowstorm was an extremely random and sudden extreme weather event.

A total of 27 red alerts were issued across Inner Mongolia and north-eastern China - the highest warning alert for snowstorms.

PUNISHING COLD BREAKS 167-YEAR-OLD RECORDS IN AUSTRALIA, + AN EARLY ARCTIC FREEZE TRAPS 20+ SHIPS IN UNUSUALLY THICK SEA ICE

The seasons have gone “topsy-turvy” down under as a blistering Polar front sweeps the vast majority of Australia, just two weeks out from summer.

Much of the continent is suffering punishing temperate departures of 8-18C below the seasonal norm:

GFS 2m Temperature Departures (C) for Nov 14 [tropicaltidbits.com].

The exceptional chill is taking down long-standing records across the country.

The Tasmanian capital of Hobart, for example, just shivered through its chilliest November low in 60 years. The mercury in the city sank to 2.9C (37.2F) at dawn on Monday — the coldest November night since 1953 (solar minimum of cycle 18). And Kunanyi/Mt Wellington, which overlooks Hobart, bottomed out at -5.8C at 4.30am — the third coldest November temperature ever recorded in Tasmania.

Melbourne recently logged its coldest November day since 2007 (solar minimum of cycle 24), with that reading (of 14C/57.2F) surpassed on Monday when a high of just 13.5C/56.3F was observed.

Scientists extend and straighten iconic climate “hockey stick”

The climate “hockey stick” refers to a reconstruction of temperatures over the past 1,000 years. The data shows flattish temperatures over the last millennium, like the handle of a Hockey stick, ending in a "blade" of rapidly rising temperatures since the industrial revolution. The idea first appeared in a paper by Michael Mann and Raymond Bradley of the University of Massachusetts and Malcolm Hughes of the University of Arizona. The work became famous after appearing in a UN climate report, after which it was the focus of climate denial, hacking, defamation, and disinformation, all of which was dramatized in a recent BBC TV drama called “The Trick.”

The Creator of the 1.5C Climate Target has Admitted That the “Simple Number” Was Invented for the Benefit of Politicians

Politics, not science, lies behind the drive to keep global temperatures to 1.5°C. Not the thoughts of your correspondent, but the clear implication of words spoken in 2010 by the so-called father of 2°C, an earlier IPCC target, Hans Joachim Schellnhuber. Interviewed by the Der Speigel, Mr Schellnhuber, the IPCC lead author and at the time Angela Merkel’s Climate Adviser, was asked why he had imposed the “magical limit” to which all countries must slavishly adhere. He said: “Politicians like to have clear targets and a simple number is easier to handle.”

Of course, the push to net zero and the ‘settled’ science that is claimed to support the move is political. It is in fact the great political debate of the age, which makes it surprising to see the head of the BBC Tim Davie attempt last week to promote the impartiality of the Corporation by suggesting that climate change is no longer a political issue.

Decarbonization TERRAFORMING of planet Earth is now under way… giant machines to be installed in Iowa to suck “life molecules” out of the atmosphere and cause global crops to FAIL

The decarbonization terraforming of planet Earth is now under way. A new project has already been launched that will install mega machines across five U.S. states to harvest “life molecules” out of the atmosphere in an effort to shut down photosynthesis and unleash global food crop failures that destroy human civilization.

Farmland is already being seized in Iowa via eminent domain to build the mechanical infrastructure that will render Earth’s atmosphere inhospitable to plant life, animal life and human life, if it is allowed to continue to operate.

It’s almost like a scene ripped right out of the film Oblivion, where giant ocean harvesting machines sucked the water off the planet, abandoning the remaining human survivors on a barren, dead world that was ransacked by aliens. But in this case, the planet’s air is being stripped of carbon, the “God element” that is the very basis of life on Earth.

There are two ways to understand the COP26 pantomime beginning its second week of wasting everyone’s time and money in Glasgow, Scotland. One is to read Ephesians 6:12; the other is to recognise it for what it really is: a gigantic eco-fascist gaslighting operation.

‘Coldest Winter Ever’ Joins Genocide, Pandemic on List of China Olympics Woes

China’s Global Times government propaganda outlet admitted on Monday that organizers of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics are growing concerned that this year will bring “one of the coldest winters ever,” posing a threat to the health of the athletes.

The IOC was similarly under fire in 2016 after athletes complained that water venues for the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro were dangerously polluted and the socialist government at the time had done little to improve their status.

The whole point of the Crown is that it does not take sides in politics. Yet in the past few days, three generations of Royals have given their support to one of the most contentious causes in human history.

Of course you would barely know it now, because so many other institutions have collapsed into conformity in the past year or so, but the view that climate change is caused by human activity remains controversial.

There is pretty good evidence that the late Duke of Edinburgh, perhaps the most scientifically minded member of the Royal Family, was among those with doubts.

Volvo says emissions from making EVs can be 70% higher than petrol models - and claims it can take up to 9 YEARS of driving before they become greener

Volvo has said that emissions from the production of electric cars are far higher than a petrol equivalent, as it called on world leaders and energy providers to significantly boost investments in green energy to reduce the carbon footprint of plug-in models.

The Swedish car maker said that over a car's lifetime the electric version will become greener overall, though this will only be achieved after covering between 30,000 and 68,400 miles - taking between four and nine years for the average UK motorist.

...

It shows that greenhouse gas emissions during production of the electric vehicle are nearly 70 per cent higher than a petrol model, which is mainly due to the carbon intensity of battery and steel production, as well as from the increased share of aluminium in the plug-in car.

Extinction Rebellion Founder Says If You Don’t Help Stop Climate Change Your Mom Will Be Gang Raped

Extinction Rebellion co-founder Roger Hallam has warned that if climate change isn’t stopped soon, moms across the world will be gang raped by men.

In a bizarre 2019 pamphlet, the far-left eco-extremist wrote that climate change would result in a situation where “a gang of boys will break into your house demanding food”, after which they “will see your mother, your sister, your girlfriend and they will gang rape her on the kitchen table.”

Al Gore Touts New Technology That Can Track ‘Identities’ Of Greenhouse Gas Emitters So They Can ‘Take Action’ Against Them

Former Vice President Al Gore has been touting a technology that can track the ‘identities’ of greenhouse gas emitters, while warning ‘we can take action’

On Tuesday, Gore, a long-time climate change activist, told MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports” that the technology, created by the Climate TRACE coalition would be able to track the “identities” of those “responsible” for emitting greenhouse gases.

All back on the private jets! Jeff Bezos's £48m Gulf Stream leads stampede of executive planes out of COP26 (while Joe Biden's Air Force One flight forces SIX commercial flights to burn fuel as they circle for 30 minutes)

Jeff Bezos's £48million Gulf Stream led a stampede of private jets out of COP26 last night, as the billionaire Amazon founder flew 4,442miles back to Seattle.

Joining the exodus of executive and government planes leaving the climate conference yesterday were the UAE and Bahrain royal families and delegations from Japan, India, Brazil, Israel, Russia and Australia.

Joe Biden's Air Force One forced six commercial flights to burn fuel as they circled Edinburgh for 30 minutes while waiting for it to leave.

Around a dozen private flights were within the UK - mainly to London - while others went to popular haunts of the super-rich such as Cannes and Bern, the capital city of Switzerland.

Bill Gates on 'climate crusade' on 'one of worst polluting forms of transportation'

Sky News host Cory Bernardi says Bill Gates set off sailing to look for "climate-saving farmland" on a yacht which emits "over seven thousand tons of carbon dioxide a year".

"Bill Gates, he's been sailing the seven seas on a voyage to search for hundreds of acres of climate-saving farmland to purchase," Mr Bernardi said.

He said Mr Gates wants to create a "large, sustainable farm".

"The only issue is, he set off on this climate crusade upon one of the world's worst polluting forms of transportation - a super yacht.

"His particular one dumping over seven thousand tons of carbon dioxide a year, making it the worst asset to own from an environmental standpoint."

Archbishop Of Canterbury Apologises For Comparing Climate Change To Holocaust

The Archbishop of Canterbury has apologised to world leaders and Jews after comparing climate change to the Nazi genocide.

Justin Welby, the Church of England’s most senior bishop apologised after he warned world leaders that their failure to agree on a climate change deal could cause a “genocide” worse than the one committed by the Nazis.

Should we dim the sun? Why we need to talk about solar geoengineering

Five months after the Titanic struck an iceberg and sank in the North Atlantic Ocean in April 1912, Carroll Livingston Riker had an idea to prevent the tragedy from ever recurring.

The Brooklyn-based engineer and inventor concocted a project so grand that he believed it could tilt the axis of the Earth.

Riker's proposition was to redirect the Gulf Stream, a warm ocean current that works its way along the eastern coast of the US, by building a jetty off Newfoundland. Riker believed it could help warm water move into the Arctic, melting the ice and allowing ships to safely pass through. Moreover, with less ice at one end of the Earth, he reasoned that the planet "would swing around a bit" on its axis, warming up some of our world's coldest climates.

The engineer was no stranger to ingenious solutions -- he'd built the first refrigerating warehouse in the world -- but this was a proposal to engineer the Earth's system. Today, we might call it geoengineering.

A new Supreme Court case could gut the government’s power to fight climate change

The Supreme Court announced late last week that it will hear four very similar cases — all likely to be consolidated under the name West Virginia v. Environmental Protection Agency — which could prove to be some of the most consequential court decisions in recent US history.

That’s a bold statement, so allow me to explain.

The cases are the latest chapter in the seemingly never-ending litigation over the Clean Power Plan, arguably former President Barack Obama’s boldest effort to fight climate change. Though the plan was never implemented, it still exists in a zombie-like state. A federal appeals court decision revived the plan last January, but the Biden administration said in February that it would not reinstate Obama’s policy.

THE MISANTHROPIC BANKERS BEHIND COP26 AND THE GREEN NEW DEAL

Mark Carney – formerly of Goldman Sachs & the Bank of England – has hailed plans to spend 130 TRILLION dollars on “net zero finance”.

Avast sweeping change towards a “green economy” is now being pushed by forces that may make an educated citizen rather uncomfortable.

Of course, news reports flash daily showcasing the brave young movement of “eco-warriors” led by Sweden’s “forever 15 year old” Greta Thunberg or America’s 17 year old Jamie Margolin who have become a force across Europe and America leading such movements as the Extinction Rebellion, This is Zero Hour, the Sunrise Movement and Children’s eco-crusade.

The young face of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez daily sells the idea that the only way for outdated capitalist forces that have plagued the world for decades to be replaced is by imposing a sweeping Green New Deal that priorities de-carbonization as a goal for humanity rather than continuing to allow the mindless forces of the markets to determine our destiny.

Coal Keeps Lights On At COP26 As Low Wind Strikes Again

The UK’s failing renewable strategy is a national embarrassment. Critically low wind power, for nearly the whole of yesterday, resulted in extremely high prices, with the two remaining coal units at Drax offering to saving the day at £4,000/MWh, nearly 100 times the wholesale price normal before the current crisis started, with many other fossil fuel generators also riding to the rescue at staggering prices.

Indeed, yesterday, 3 November, saw a new record for the total daily cost of balancing the GB electricity grid. The previous record of £38 million, twenty times the current daily average, was smashed by a margin of £6 million, with the new record standing at £44.7m.

‘Net zero’ is like a ‘unicorn’: Kel Richards

Broadcaster Kel Richards says the expression ‘net zero’ works in our language a little bit like the word ‘unicorn’.

“In other words, we can define it, we can say what it means, but we also know it can never actually exist as such,” Mr Richards told Sky News host Peta Credlin.

“The net part of net zero means: what is left when you subtract the outgoings and the incomings.

“The zero half means that when you do that sum, you will get a zero, you will get the two sides balancing exactly.

“You can never achieve a balance. The zero part of net zero is unachievable.”

Russia Prepping For War As World Leaders Party In Scotland

According to The Washington Post, Officials from the United States and Europe are watching new movements of Russian troops near the Ukraine border.
The movements come as Russian President Vladimir Putin has declared a "red line" on further NATO military expansion of installations in Ukraine.

"The point is: It is not a drill," CNA's director of Russia studies Michael Kofman told the Post. "It doesn't appear to be a training exercise. Something is happening. What is it?"

According to the report, social media has shown Russian military trains and convoys moving tanks and missiles in southern and western Russia.

Biden Slams China's "Not Showing Up" At COP26 As Xi Says He Was Denied Option Of Virtual Address

Recent Western media reports have underscored that China emits more greenhouse gas than all other developed nations combined, so naturally many are asking what's the point of the ongoing Cop26 UN climate summit in Glasgow if the world's number one polluter is not present.

Over 120 heads of state were present at the first day on Monday - when 'high level' opening speeches were given (and President Biden was caught snoozing) - but China's President Xi Jinping stayed home, and merely submitted a dry written statement published to the conference's website.

But on Tuesday China is saying that President Xi was never so much as offered an option of addressing world leaders via live video link. China's Foreign Ministry told reporters in a press briefing that Xi was never provided the option to attend virtually, apparently after it was sought as a possibility.

THE BIG TECH MINISTRY OF TRUTH CLAMPING DOWN ON 'CLIMATE CHANGE DENIAL'

Many people have speculated that questioning climate change in any way will eventually be banned on social media. We just took one step closer to that reality.

Some big tech companies are now vowing to stamp out climate ‘denialism’ by treating it as misinformation.

Sara Fischer reports at Axios:

Big Tech finally reckons with climate denialism

Tech companies are cracking down on climate misinformation ahead of this year’s United Nations COP26 climate summit, in an effort to get ahead of an expected surge in climate misinformation during the global conference.

Why it matters: Internet platforms have let climate denialism run rampant for years. New efforts to curb climate misinformation are finally happening in the wake of a more serious global conversation around the crisis.

Ahead of the conference, which began Sunday, experts have warned that misinformation could undermine the event.

DAN WOOTTON: I want to save the planet but I resent being told how to do it by a bunch of biased BBC reporters, unelected billionaires, royals, celebrities and tone-deaf politicians whose private jets have turned Flop 26 into an orgy of hypocrisy

I don't know which image of unbridled hypocrisy, sickening privilege and total tone-deafness made me fume more.

The parade of 400 private jets parked up at Scottish airports as world leaders, royalty and billionaires gushed out more carbon within a 24-hour period than most of us will in a lifetime in order to arrive at Cop26 and preach that we must all change our lives forever more in order to reach Net Zero by 2050.

Or the dangerous Insulate Britain criminals splayed once more on the roads, this time in Manchester, to stop more hardworking Brits from going to work, taking their kids to school or getting to hospital when most of these eco-terrorists haven't even bothered to properly insulate their own homes.

And that's just the start of the maddening spectacle of Flop26 over the past 48 hours.

UK soap operas join forces to highlight climate change

For the first time in British television history, the country’s soaps and continuing dramas have joined forces to highlight the issue of climate change and environmental issues.

Casualty, Coronation Street, Doctors, EastEnders, Emmerdale, Holby City and Hollyoaks have each filmed scenes, or have references, to cover different aspects of climate change and, in a soap first, five of the soaps will also be referencing each other as each drama will also give a nod to another.

Bill Gates & Jeff Bezos labeled ‘elitist hypocrites’ after reports of superyacht party ahead of climate summit

The American tycoons apparently prepared for the UN Climate Change Conference (which kicked off in Glasgow, Scotland on the weekend) aboard luxurious superyachts in the Aegean Sea. According to the British media, the weekly rental price of Gate’s vessel is $2 million.

On Friday, the world’s second richest man, Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, was reportedly among the 50 guests at the Microsoft cofounder’s lavish 66th birthday party in the Turkish resort town of Fethiye. Both billionaires got there by helicopter, which – like superyachts – aren’t the cleanest means of transportation in terms of CO2 emissions.

Billionaire Jeff Bezos and girlfriend Lauren Sanchez flew by private jet to discuss climate change with Prince Charles over a cup of tea on the eve of Cop26 - days after he and 50 guests flew choppers to Bill Gates' superyacht birthday

Billionaire Jeff Bezos and his girlfriend Lauren Sanchez met with Britain's Prince Charles last night on the eve of the Cop26 climate summit in Glasgow, after jetting into Scotland on a $65 million private jet.

The meeting came two days after the Amazon founder was in Turkey celebrating the 66th birthday of fellow-billionaire Bill Gates as the pair vacationed on superyachts.

And despite touting the importance on taking climate action, Bezos arrived in Scotland on Sunday at Prestwick Airport in his $65million Gulfstream, leading a 400-strong parade of carbon-emitting private jets flying in for the summit during which the world's leaders will hold crunch-talks over the global climate crisis.

Credlin: ‘We should stop lying about what’s happening in Glasgow’

Sky News host Peta Credlin says we should “stop lying” about what is happening in Glasgow.

“It’s a giant transfer of wealth and power from the developed world to the developing world,” she said.

“Which of course, according to the UN, still includes China, even China is about to be the world’s largest economy and already has the world’s biggest navy.

“Because whatever we do here in Australia will make no difference at all to total emissions, but will hurt taxpayers and businesses here, this is all a futile green gesture.

“Don’t believe the hype about renewable power being cheap either, if it really were cheap it wouldn’t have to be subsidised or indeed mandated.”
